Alexandra “Sascha” von Meier is a faculty scientist with the Grid Integration Group at LBNL, an adjunct professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley, and director of the electric grid research program at the California Institute for Energy and Environment (CIEE) on the Berkeley campus. Until 2012, she was a professor of Energy Management & Design in the Department of Environmental Studies and Planning at Sonoma State University. Sascha's work is driven by the vision of a nimble and resilient electricity infrastructure to support a carbon-neutral energy sector. Her current research focuses on advanced sensor data for grid operation, and novel strategies for integrating distributed energy resources. Her previous work and publications include the areas of human factors in technology adoption, nuclear power plant operations, nuclear materials management, and green building design. She is also the author of a textbook, Electric Power Systems: A Conceptual Introduction. Sascha holds a B.A. in Physics (1986) and a Ph.D. in Energy and Resources (1995) from UC Berkeley.
